The Fondazione IRCCS SANTA LUCIA conference centre is located in Via Ardeatina, 306 - 00179 Roma, not too far from the centre of Rome. This area is linked to the centre by means of an efficient city bus service. Access to the airport is also relatively easy thanks to the nearby ring road leading to the Rome-Fiumicino highway.
The Santa Lucia conference centre (built in 1996) covers an overall area of about 2,500 square meters; this includes a 494-seat auditorium, which can be divided into two rooms of 247 seats each, 6 smaller rooms of about 80 seats each, which will be used for the workshops, a press room and adequate dressing and rest rooms, as well as other spaces that will be used for the poster presentations and so on. The complex has secretarial services; telephones, fax machines, photocopy machines. Computers and telecommunication facilities are also available.
The Santa Lucia Institute has hosted many meetings and conferences and is also used by external health organisations and other groups. It was selected to organize the thirty-first Meeting of the European Brain and Behaviour Society and the eighth National Congress of the Italian Society of Neurosciences (1999).
The conference centre is adjacent to the Santa Lucia Institute, which is specialised for neuromotor rehabilitation. It serves as a private IRCCS (Istituto di Ricovero e Cura a Carattere Scientifico - Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalisation and Health Care) and was founded as a non-profit corporation.
